Technology is used daily by students in their everyday life. Gaming, texting, TV, and the internet are commonplace in their day to day routines. There is a YouTube video that gives a great overview of technology and how it affects students not only in the classroom but on a global level.
Teachers should try to use technology in the classroom in order to engage their students, after all they are using it everyday and are comfortable with it. A child who is comfortable and engaged can become intrinsically motivated and eager to learn. They may even be learning and not even realize it because their interest is peaked. Teachers can meet the common core standards and put students in charge of the own learning by integrating technology with the curriculum.
Technology may not be second nature to all teachers and can sometimes be daunting. There are no "experts" when it comes to integrating technology with your curriculum. Trial and error plus practice go a long way in making you a tech savvy teacher. Technology is not always second nature to teachers but it is with most students. Educators should try to play to their students' strengths and become more knowledgeable themselves by integrating technology in their classrooms.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you "Teachers should try to use technology in the classroom in order to engage their students". I believe that teachers must using more dynamic and flexible teaching styles. Also, teachers must using different tools. Technology can be really powerful tool for teachers to use if they know how to use it.

I think that technology become important part in our life. Also, technology use allows many more students to be actively thinking about information, making choices, and executing skills than is typical in teacher-led lessons. In addition, technology use allows students to create, problem solve, research, collaborate, and interact globally.
